There has been a noticable increase in the number of dwelling house burglaries in the Pitsmoor locality.
Police have identified that a number of ‘sneak in’ type burglaries have occurred in the locality during the afternoon and evening time.
The area includes Rutland Road, Cooks Wood Road, Shirley Road, Shirecliffe Lane, Burngreave Road, Minna Road and Abbeyfield Road
Offenders are targetting unlocked houses, sneaking in and then taking items such as handbags, credit cards and jewellery. Offenders have also been known to take car keys and then steal peoples cars from the driveway or street.
The Safer Neighbourhood Team are asking residents to ensure they lock doors and take other security measures such as removing items from open view.
