    Homepage for Burngreave New Deal for Communities (BNDfC), a government funded community regeneration programme to help regenerate the Burngreave area of Sheffield, supporting plans that bring together local people, community and voluntary sector organisations, public agencies, local authorities and business to make long lasting improvements.

        The project will tackle unemployment among refugees and asylum seekers requiring skills through voluntary work.

        A team for Burngreave who deal with any complaint no matter who your landlord is. The team can refer you for mediation or take legal action if needed.

        An innovative partnership project between BNDfC and Sheffield City Council’s Employment Unit, whose main aim is to give the people of Burngreave the opportunity to get the skills, qualifications and work experience they need to gain employment.

        Burngreave Men's Activity and Conversation Club has been et up to encourage men whose first languse is not English to make friends and improve their English skills.

        Allowing Burngreave New Deal to get its message across to the community and listen to concerns from the community through funding public meetings, publications, and a dedicated Communications Officer.

        Funding the costs of the New Deal shop on Spital Hill and two workers to answer residents' concerns about New Deal and provide other advice and signposting.

        Project contracted to manage the Burngreave Community Learning Campaign. This is a project that provides people with basic skills and educational development in the Burngreave Community and includes the training and personal development of Learning Assistants from the area.

        Project delivering free book packs and advice for families with young children (5 and under) on book sharing, plus a wide range of family learning courses and events.

      • [+] Burngreave Advocacy Now

        Provides free, culturally appropriate advocacy service. Advocates can help you by acting on your behalf, making phone calls, explaining your letters, writing letters for you, accompanying you when necessary and sign-posting you to other services.

        Subsidised childcare places at three local childcare providers, for parents and carers needing respite and entering training.

        Burngreave Children's Centre (formerly known as Sure Start Burngreave and Fir Vale) aims to improve the health and well-being of families of children before and from birth.

      • [•] Burngreave Community Learning Campaign

        A team of local learning assistants supporting residents to improve literacy and recruiting and supporting adults to participate in learning, while undertaking training to improve their own skills and increase their long term employment prospects. This project has been extended for another four years.

        Having gained a five-year broadcasting licence, Burngreave Community Radio is holding roadshow-style meetings so residents can get involved in any aspects of this community radio’s development.

        Support, education and therapies for local people affected by their own or a family members' drug use.

        Monthly community magazine delivered to all households in the area to encourage communication, inform residents about local activities and publicise local business and events.

        A one stop shop for jobs and training, helping Burngreave residents into sustainable employment. The centre will offer advice on how to access employment as well as funding training and employment opportunities.

        The management and delivery of a major facelift and redevelopment of properties in the Catherine street triangle incorporating Rock Street.

        Project working with young people (11-16) in danger of exclusion from school or who have become excluded.

        Pays the out of pocket expenses for volunteer Partnership Board members such as childcare; transport; stationery; subscription to regeneration publications and training.

        This project aims to help young people from the Somali, Yemeni and Pakistani Communities to achieve their full potential.

        A team of officers who patrol the area taking practical action to make Burngreave a better place to live.

        The purpose of the project is to establish the community led delivery of actual improvements to the green spaces and parks in the BNDfC area.

        Provides local residents with low/no cost driving lessons to increase their ability to get and stay in work.

        Identifies and tracks the progress of children receiving additional help and support in learning from BNDfC funded initiatives.

      • [•] Emotional Health and Wellbeing

        Promoting emotional well being and stress management. This project will be particularly aimed at Yemeni men and Pakistani women as there is no other service of this kind for these communities.

        Project providing an additional maintenance team for Burngreave to keep the streets and open spaces clean.

        Delivering packages of support to families and children in the Burngreave New Deal area who need a little extra help.

        Organises 4 Festivals around the area each year, including the award-winning Abbeyfield Park Multicultural Festival.

        The Full Employment Sheffield project builds upon two existing Objective one funded projects, and brings these together.

        Project delivered by the Garden Rooms Arts and Community Studios, running introductory arts and craft courses for adults in Burngreave.

        Project for Burngreave residents who wish to improve their health and their local environment by taking part in gardening and nature conservation activities.

        This project aims to provide an environment where the elderly from different BME backgrounds can meet.

        Project run by the Pitsmoor Citizens Advice Bureau, providing a home visiting advice service to people who are isolated in their homes due to disability, old age or caring responsibilities.

        A dedicated police team just for Burngreave. The team focuses on community policing.

        One World Centre for the Healing Arts in Burngreave Sheffeld is a sanctuary for the enjoyment of soulful and healing activities and is a safe and sacred space. It hosts a number of associates who share the same objectives.

        Pays for the hire of rooms for Burngreave New Deal for Communities Partnership Board meetings; Theme Group meetings and training events.

        A locally managed savings and loans co-operative whose members live in the Burngreave/Pitsmoor area.

        Project developed by Sheffield City Council’s Private Sector Housing department to improve the quality of privately rented accommodation in Burngreave.

        To remodel and refurbish the footpaths, Ellesmere Green and Caborn Corner.

        To provide advice to residents, businesses and local schools on recycling issues.

        Provision of daycare and home care for African-Caribbean elderly people, and providing training and conference facilities for all of Sheffield's communities.

        A horticultural project for people with mental health difficulties.

        Providing free door and window locks and subsidised burglar alarms.

        Grants from under £250 to over £5,000 for individuals and community groups to get involved in the regeneration of the area and improve the quality of life of local residents.

        To refurbish Sorby House to provide a community resource centre for commercial and community activities.

        Creation of a team to manage the redevelopment of Spital Hill, Sorby House and the Vestry Hall.

        The Burngreave Streetworx Project is a Detached Street-work initiative aiming to tackle issues of young people hanging around the streets and causing youth nuisance.

        Supports voluntary sector after school clubs run at local schools and holiday playcare.

        Provides advice and support to new and existing businesses in the BNDfC area.
