Projects
Access to Employment – Assists people with refugee status to secure training and voluntary/paid work opportunities.
Advancing Together Education Projects – Partnership between BNDfC and LEA to provide education projects, including language teaching, classroom support, breakfast clubs, after-school groups, and weekend and half term activities in primary schools.
Anti-Social Behaviour Team – A team for Burngreave who deal with any complaint no matter who your landlord is. The team can refer you for mediation or take legal action if needed.
Apprenticeships for All – Offering local residents an opportunity to raise their skills through access to work based training and employment opportunities city wide.
BCAT Organisational Development
BiG Make it Your Business – Helping people to set up in business, supporting sustainable business growth and increasing the success rate of locally-owned businesses in Sheffield. BiG can help you access the vital support to set up or grow your business.
Black CARD – Project contracted to manage the Burngreave Community Learning Campaign. This is a project that provides people with basic skills and educational development in the Burngreave Community and includes the training and personal development of Learning Assistants from the area.
BNDfC Communication – supporting the effective two-way communication between Burngreave residents and BNDfC. Communicating through the use of public meetings, publications and events throughout the year. Assisting partners in changing the perception of the Burngreave area through local, regional and national media.
Bookstart and Family Learning – Project delivering free book packs and advice for families with young children (5 and under) on book sharing, plus a wide range of family learning courses and events.
Burngreave Advocacy Now – Free, independent, generic, culturally appropriate community advocacy, whether that is help reading letters or someone to go with you to appointments.
Burngreave After School Study Support – Project delivering study support to raise the achievement levels of pupils residing in the BNDfC area.
Burngreave Childcare Consortium – Subsidised childcare places at three local childcare providers, for parents and carers needing respite and entering training.
Burngreave Children's Centre – Development of a centre to deliver a range of co-ordinated services supporting the well-being of families and young people.
Burngreave Community Learning Campaign – Team of local learning assistants supporting residents to improve literacy and recruiting and supporting adults to participate in learning, while undertaking training to improve their own skills and increase their long term employment prospects. This project has been extended for another four years.
Burngreave Drug Project – Support, education and therapies for local people affected by their own or a family members' drug use.
Burngreave Language Support Agency – A social enterprise helping local residents to become multilingual interpreters and translators.
Burngreave Messenger – Bi-Monthly community magazine delivered to all households in the area to encourage communication, inform residents about local activities and publicise local business and events.
Burngreave Opportunities and JobNet@Burngreave – A one stop shop for jobs and training to help residents of Burngreave move into sustainable employment, offering advice on how to access employment as well as funding training and employment opportunities.
Burngreave Sports Development Project – Delivering a variety of sports sessions and weekly activity sessions
Communications and Information Vehicle – Display vehicle for Burngreave New Deal community events and for use by local community and voluntary groups at no cost.
Community Education Coordinators – working with schools to engage parents in family learning and adult education classes, and supporting their children's learning. This project has been extended for the next three years.
Community Engagement Team – team of workers to organise community events for Burngreave New Deal for Communities and work in the community to ensure that local residents are aware of and able to benefit from the many opportunities New Deal provides.
Community Language Schools – Supporting Arabic, Urdu and Somali speaking children to learn these languages.
Community Study Support – A Consortium of projects aiming to help young people from the Somali, Yemeni and Pakistani Communities to achieve their full potential. The project offers after school study support in Maths, English and Science.
Community Wardens – a team of residents who patrol the area taking practical action to make Burngreave a better place to live.
Counselling Provision in Burngreave – extra counsellors in GP surgeries.
Deliver It Green – The purpose of the project is to establish the community led delivery of actual improvements to the green spaces and parks in the BNDfC area.
Ellesmere Children's Centre – Creation of an outdoor facility.
Emotional Health and Wellbeing – promoting emotional well being and stress management. This project will be particularly aimed at Yemeni men and Pakistani women as there is no other service of this kind for these communities.
Festive Fun – Festive parties organised by BNDfC Community Engagement Team.
Full Employment Sheffield – Maximising the impact of economic growth by ensuring that the residents of Sheffield's deprived communities are connected to, and able to take up new and emerging jobs.
Home Visiting Project – Project run by the Pitsmoor Citizens Advice Bureau, providing a home visiting advice service to people who are isolated in their homes due to disability, old age or caring responsibilities.
JobNet – a job search, advice and guidance service helping local people into employment
L.E.D.S. (Raising Skills)
Local Economic Development Strategy – Creation of a local economic development strategy and the development of a commissioning framework.
Local Evaluation – New post managing the evaluation of the New Deal programme and all its projects, internal and external.
New Deal Police Team – a dedicated police team just for Burngreave. The team focuses on community policing.
Partnership Development Project – Pays for the hire of rooms for Burngreave New Deal for Communities Partnership Board meetings; Theme Group meetings and training events.
Pitsmoor Adventure Playground Phase 3 – to build a new indoor play facililty
Pitsmoor Citizens Advice Bureau projects – See Home Visiting Project and Supporting Advice.
Primary Half Term and Weekend Clubs
Public Realm – to remodel and refurbish the footpaths, Ellesmere Green and Caborn Corner.
SAGE GreenFingers – a horticultural project for people with mental health difficulties
Small Grants – Grants from £500 to £5,000 for individuals and community groups to get involved in the regeneration of the area and improve the quality of life of local residents.
Smartwater property marking – a property marking initiative free to every Burngreave resident to deter theft.
Sorby House – to refurbish Sorby House to provide a community resource centre for commercial and community activities
Spital Hill Renewal Team – creation of a team to manage the redevelopment of Spital Hill Sorby House and the Vestry Hall
Streetworx – A Detached Streetwork initiative based in the BNDfC area. It aims to tackle issues of young people hanging around the streets and causing youth nuisance.
Supporting Advice – Providing targeted advice provision to a range of communities in the Burngreave New Deal area in a number of settings.
Supporting Businesses – provides advice and support to new and existing businesses in the BNDfC area
Supporting Playcare – supports voluntary sector after school clubs run at local schools and holiday playcare.
Transport Strategy – planning and re-modeling of the main access routes in the Bndfc area to provide safer, better lit routes
Vestry Hall – refurbishment and redevelopment of this landmark building to create a community learning centre
Yemeni Centre Childcare Project – Project aiming to support children aged 6 months to 5 years.
