Group aiming to raise awareness of the chapel restoration project, through various arts, culture, environment and family history events.
The Friends Group was set up in 2001. Our members are local residents, some are artists, some dog walkers, others nature lovers, some are interested in their family history. We are united in our concern for the Cemetery and its Chapel, which in recent years has been allowed to deteriorate.
Our aim is to try and get funding to restore the Chapel and bring it into use by the community. It is hoped that the use of the building will be self-sustaining and that this will ensure the preservation of structure. We have been working with Bereavement Services, who own the Chapel, in the hope that one day we can take responsibility for the building.
