El-Nisah is a women’s group group set up to deal with social exclusion and provide training to reflect the needs of women in Burngreave. Childcare is essential to allow local women to attend the training so the creche is a vital part of the service. The El Nisah creche received a Small Grant for educational trips.
El-Nisah creche
Small Grants Administrator Val Wagg attended a trip to the Magna Science Centre with children and workers from the El Nisah creche and their parents/carers. Children and adults alike enjoyed the trip to the centre and took part in a range of activities, finishing with lunch and a trip to the adventure playground. The adults were all extremely friendly and welcoming and the children seemed to have a great time. Almost nobody had been to the centre before. The trip enabled children and parents to learn together and was capacity building for those who would not normally feel confident enough to go on such an outing alone. The workers spoke a variety of local languages and this enabled those who were not confident at speaking English to feel able to attend. A worthwhile trip!
