Since my last update there have been some considerable changes at BNDfC. We have secured our Charitable status, but are still in the process of working towards the completion of our Succession Strategy which is the structure that will allow us to go forward after the end of the New Deal Programme in 2011. A decision is expected on this in late summer 2010 but we will keep you advised as to progress.

Vestry Hall
Vestry Hall

Our buildings continue to attract new occupiers despite the economic situation around us. At Sorby House we are now over 65% occupied and more than 100 people are employed within our building, our latest tenants specialise in Immigration Law, Private Healthcare and Famine Relief. If you want to join them, there is still space to do so, but we have issued terms for a number of suites so supply is diminishing!

Vestry Hall, as we mentioned, is now hosting the Corner Egg Café so why not pop in for a drink or even to try their excellent lunches? Despite the cuts in funding to the Adult Learning budget in the City, the Vestry Hall still provides a range of courses through Sheffield College, Lifelong Learning and Skills as well other local organisations who have taken the initiative to provide additional courses that you the Community have requested.

As regular readers will remember, we mentioned that BOPPS were still achieving high levels of engagement within the Community. Well they have now been able to secure further commissions working with a number of partners which means that their future is secure for the foreseeable future, allowing them to help our residents to get back into employment.

The usage of our event and function suites is increasing and we are seeing more and more bookings from all over Sheffield, which is great for Burngreave as it allows others to see what a vibrant and diverse community we have. Of course we are a Community led organisation so as always we want you to use our facilities so why not give us a call to discuss your requirements? I am sure you will be surprised at what we can offer and how competitive we actually are.

As always we welcome your views so please do not hesitate to contact us
